Distribution: Found in the Gulf Coastal drainages from the Colorado River in
Texas to the Apalachicola River in Florida, and most of the Mississippi
drainage.
Habitat: Prefers large water, rivers, lakes and the coastal waters.
Spawning Period: From April to July.
Spawning Habitat: Probably over coarse gravel in main channel current.
Important Notes: Good fighting fish on light tackle. Good catfish bait on jugs
and trotlines. Young-of-the-year grow to 3-5 inches.
